I have worked as an occupational therapist since graduating in 1990 from Exeter school of occupational therapy and I have extensive experience from working in the NHS and social services.
As an occupational therapist my role is to help people overcome the effects of disability caused by injury, ageing, physical or psychological illness. My aim is to find out why a person cannot do what they would like or need to do and assist them in finding solutions to maximise their independence and function.
My role covers a whole range of needs and may include anything from washing to wheelchairs, cooking to carers, gardens to gadgets, dressing to dog walking, technology to toileting, beds to bathing or social support to seating. Whatever your needs are, my aim is to make your life easier. I am a member of the Royal College of Occupational Therapists and the Health and Care Professions Council.
Jo has been a real help with giving me advice on equipment for my bath that will help me get in and out of it without a struggle and assisted me in the buying process. She has also observed many activities that I do and have great difficulty with and has given me wonderful advice on how to make things easier with little tips and some pieces of equipment. Thank you Jo so much.
Jo has been supporting a resident at Ardath with his mobility needs, ensuring that he has all the equipment needed in place and providing encouragement to work on exercises and his posture in order to maintain his mobility as much as possible. Jo has spent time with the resident, observing him with his current equipment, and getting to know him, to ensure that she can meet his needs as much as possible. She has communicated well with the staff team and has been very encouraging to this resident.
Jo is an invaluable resource and assists us in supporting some of the most vulnerable people in society. She is on hand whenever she is needed to offer practical support and guidance. She genuinely cares and is tireless in the purist to make people lives better.
I feel very well looked after and very happy with someone so efficient and tactfully friendly. Thanks to Jo I can remain happy and comfortable in my home.
Over the past 18 months I have been supporting and caring for two clients that Jo referred to me. She has the welfare of her clients uppermost in her mind. She makes my part of the support care very easy by always smoothing the path, and making the necessary arrangements. Jo is always there to give helpful advice. She is kind, friendly and highly professional.
